In Case You Missed It

On Monday, we took a look at an exciting new study to find out what some of the latest research says about natural versus prescription antivirals.

On Wednesday’s podcast release, we asked which test is best for determining SIBO: the lactulose or the glucose breath test. The answer was surprising!

Dr. Ruscio’s Weekly Tip

Oftentimes we assume that pharmaceuticals are more potent and therefore more effective at treating infections and viruses. However, based on a recent study, this may not be accurate.
This week we discuss how a natural supplement compares with a prescription antiviral for the treatment of herpes simplex virus.

Latest Research

Those with celiac might be more susceptible to intestinal infections and intestinal infections might increase chances of Celiac.

A recent systemic review has shown fermented dairy might be good for skin health.

PPIs (acid-blocking medications like Nexium) recently shown to alter the microbiota and potentially increase risk of infection.

Daycare, breastfeeding, and type 1 diabetes. If child attends before two years of age and is not breast fed = increased risk. If child attends before two years of age and are breast fed = decreased risk. Fascinating stuff.

No surprise here but improved sleep improves disease markers for cardiovascular, metabolic, and inflammatory diseases.
