Latest Research

There was no association between subclinical hypothyroidism and incident depression in a large cohort of middle aged men and women.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) versus moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT), which do you think would be the superior method for cardiac rehabilitation (DR)?

“HIIT is superior to MICT in improving cardiorespiratory fitness in participants of CR. Improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness are significant for CR programs of >6-week duration. Programs of 7-12 weeks’ duration resulted in the largest improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness for patients with coronary artery disease. HIIT appears to be as safe as MICT for CR participants.”

The result of administering galactooligosaccharides (GOS) while participants avoided lactose for a set time, then encouraged to consume lactose,  indicated a definitive change in the fecal microbiome of lactose intolerant participants, increasing the abundance of lactose-metabolizing bacteria that were responsive to dietary adaptation to GOS. This indicates clinical outcomes of improved lactose intolerance.

“Directed modulation of the colonic bacteria to metabolize lactose effectively is a potentially useful approach to improve lactose digestion and tolerance.”

The low FODMAP diet and especially the gluten free diet led to a significant improvement of clinical and psychological symptoms in patients with Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS).

“Findings suggest a multifactorial etiology of NCGS, due to a functional effect caused by FODMAPs, combined with a mild gluten-triggered immune reaction, and a microbiota dysbalance.”

The need for D-lactic acid probiotics appears largely unsupported and based upon mis-representing the facts.
